Kirk Session Notes - January 2010
At the January meeting Glenn Walker paid tribute to two fellow elders, Betty McLaren and John Bryson, both of whom had sadly passed away in December. Both had been very active and loyal servants within St John's for many years and will be deeply missed within the congregation. (Read Glenn's tribute here)
Rev Cowieson then shared with Session his vision for the future within St John's in the areas of mission, discipleship and compassion.
A report was given on behalf of the Pastoral Care Team. 14 visitors regularly visit members of the congregation and at Christmas each of the 43 members on their list received a card and gift on behalf of St John's.
Rev Cowieson informed elders that the Moderator of the Church of Scotland will be visiting Lanark Presbytery in March. He will conduct a joint communion service on 7th March in Kirkton Church and will spend 11th March in Carluke leading the Thursday service and visiting Milton Grange, Choices and Street Level.
A special meeting of the Kirk Session was called on 1st February to discuss in detail what proposals would be taken forward to the joint conference on 23rd February which would look at the future of the Church in Carluke.
