Trekkers November Walk

Added: 24 October 2009

The next walk by the Trekkers will be to the Yarrow Valley and Ettrick Forest area.

This is a flat circular walk of approx 7 miles in the stronghold of the Douglas Clan.

From the end of St Mary's Loch we follow part of the Southern Upland Way passing between Ward Law and South Hawkshaw to Blackhouse Tower, the site of the massacre of Sir James Douglas and his seven sons. From here it is a farm track which runs parallel to the Douglas Burn (you might think about bringing along your prospecting gear as there is a disused gold workings along this track) then a short walk along the A708 back to the start point. It is a moorland area with no shelter therefore appropriate clothing is recommended.

Anyone wishing to go should contact Margaret Houston on (751304) or Rae Warnock (770536).

New "Trekkers" always welcome.
