...and one from David
A letter was received from Rev David Easton, who had been Interim moderator and Locum Minister during the recent vacancy. In it, David expressed his warm thanks for the gift bestowed on him at the Induction Social on Thursday 3 May.
He continued:
...it has been a privilege to minister at St John's over the past year. Beyond what contribution I may have made to the life of the congregation during the vacancy, you all have brought blessing to Edith [his wife] and me. My stint as Locum and Interim Moderator meant that the transition from active ministry to retirement, which some of my colleagues have found quite traumatic, was eased. You all made us feel very welcome and we felt very much at home among you, so much so that Sunday without you will seem strange. So from us both, heartfelt thanks.
Be sure of my prayers. I shall follow the unfolding development of Roy [Cowieson]'s ministry with interest. The future is bright with promise. Watch the tide of God's purposes!
Again, my thanks for your kindness.
Very sincerely,
David
