Christian Aid: you add - we multiply

Christian Aid week is a powerful act of Christian witness, uniting hundreds of thousands of Christians to put their faith into action, and involves millions more people in the U.K. It helps some of the world's poorest communities see growth. It's a vibrant and exciting movement for justice and you are part of it. However, Christian Aid week isn't just about supporting work overseas. When the Churches in Carluke work together, when organisers go the extra mile to make things happen, when church reps pull out all the stops to cover the streets, and when collectors tramp those streets knocking on doors on behalf of the world's poorest people - all these things combine to give a strong message to our communities about the love of God for all people. Nationally, last year's Christian Aid week raised approximately £15million and your efforts played a massive part in making this happen.

So far this year, the Carluke Churches have raised £1360 through a collection taken at the Christmas Festival of Praise and the proceeds gathered from a grocery packing day in Somerfield. But our thoughts are now turning to Christian Aid Week 13th - 19th May, and we make no apology for repeating the same message that once again we will be depending on you for support and help, not only in the cafe, but in the door to door collection. As new housing developments emerge in our town, so the reps in the Churches will be actively recruiting additional collectors for door to door collection. Even if you volunteer to collect in the street where you live, you will be making a difference. So please think about it and you will make Iris, Mary and Sandra very happy people! Better still, give us a call and say "Yes, I'll be one of your collectors"
