Youth Church

We have had another busy year for our Youth Church children and leaders. I would very much like to thank our leaders for all their efforts during this past year for both the time they dedicate in preparing the lessons for the children, and for all the time spent working with our young people week on week, and in going to trips and events.

We have had two great trips this year for the younger Youth Church children, one at Christmas time to the pantomime in Lanark, and more recently to the Biggar Puppet theatre as our summer trip. Link also had a terrific end of session day out at the Cumbernauld Outdoor Activity Centre taking part in archery, paint ball, meeting birds of prey, and the of course the day's undoubted highlight of 4 x 4 off road driving. I must thank all who took part in these events, both leaders and Mums and Dads who came along to join in the fun and make it good days out for our children and young people.

I am most grateful to have had a very dedicated team of leaders for this session, and also of Mums and helpers who are so good at stepping in to assist with classes when cover is required. We are always keen to have new faces to help in the Youth Church and as each year we have people reaching the end of their three-year term of service, this year is no different. If you are interested in helping in Youth Church, please do speak to me at any time. It is a most rewarding branch of service in our church, and the children really do benefit from the teachers work.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank Lorraine Scullion for her time with the Splash Zone. Lorraine will be with us for the first part of the new 2006 session, but then the Scullion family will be moving back to Ireland. On behalf of the Youth Church and staff, I would like to take the opportunity to offer her our sincere thanks for all of her excellent youth work over the years. I would also like to thank both Pam and Colin Gill for their work with LinK 1 and LinK 2.

One final comment is to ask the congregation to keep the Youth Church, its young people and our leaders in your prayers, as your support is vital to us.

Moira Elliott (Superintendent)
