First (Carluke) Scouts

In 2007 the Scout Movement will be celebrating 100 years since their formation. In the lead up to this special year 2006 is also an anniversary year for the Beaver and Cub Sections who will be celebrating 20 years and 90 years respectively. To mark these milestones in their history a number of events have been planned. The first event was a Thanksgiving Service in Kirkton Church, on Friday 24th February when the Beaver and Cubs from Lanark District renewed their Promise.

During the month of May the Cubs from Lanark District (Biggar, Douglas, Lesmahagow, Lanark and Carluke) will enjoy a fun day at Corehouse Nature Reserve near Lanark. Activities planned for this event include archery, backwoods cooking, pioneering and trail following. At the end of the day a campfire will be lit and a birthday cake will be cut.

The Beavers will also be having a Fun Day this will be on Saturday 20th May to Blair Drummond Safari Park near Stirling.

During the Anniversary year each Group will be holding their own parties with past Leaders being invited along to join in the celebrations.

If you are interested in Scouting, our own Group, 1st Carluke, have Beavers for boys and girls aged 5 years 9 months to 8 years which meet on Tuesday Evenings in the Scout Hall, Hosier Street from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Their Motto is simply "Fun and Friends".

The Cub Pack for boys and girls aged 8 years meets in the Scout Hall on Mondays from 7.15 pm to 8.30 pm.
