The Interim Moderator Writes...
Dear Friends
I have enjoyed the brief time during which I have been with you at St Johns. It has been good to meet people I did not know before and to begin to get the feel of your congregation. Thank you for your welcome.
The Rev Susan Cowell has kindly agreed to be your locum and we thank her for agreeing to do this. Susan will give you continuity and presence week by week in the pulpit. You all know her and I feel that you will support her warmly.
The Season of Advent, which we are now celebrating is traditionally a time of preparation and expectation for the coming of Christ. For St Johns, this time of vacancy is similar to the Advent Season. There is hope, expectation and a looking forward to what is to come, and there is a great deal of preparation work to be done. A vacancy provides an opportunity for elders and members to think about the work, witness and vision of their Church.
Fortunately you are not without ministers. You have Susan and myself, but you also have each other. All of us are called to serve and minister to each other in the name of Christ. I look forward to working alongside your office-bearers and getting to know the parish better in the coming months.
God bless you, and have a meaningful, uncomplicated Christmas.
Margaret Muir
