The Church of Scotland is one of the largest organisations in the country, with around 600,000 members and many thousands more regularly involved in local congregations and our work. More than 100,000 children and young people also take part in a range of church-based activities, led by a team of 15,000 volunteers.

Eco-Congregation developed from a partnership between the Government funded environmental charity ENCAMS (which runs the Keep Britain Tidy Campaign and the Going for Green brand) and the Environmental Issues Network of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland. It aims to encourage churches to consider environmental issues within a Christian context and enable local churches to make positive contributions in their life and mission.
Eco-Congregation Scotland is part of the wider Eco-Congregation Programme in Britain and Ireland. It is run independently but retains its valuable links with the other parts of the Programme.

The Nazareth Trust (also known as EMMS Nazareth) is a voluntary Christian organisation. It is internationally known for its pioneering work in training medical students for work overseas.
Since 1861, the Nazareth Hospital has been healing in the name of Jesus in Nazareth. What started as a humble clinic with 4 beds has grown to become Nazareth's General Hospital sitting high on 25 acres of Nazarene hillside they have owned since 1906. For 80 years the School of Nursing has offered an open doorway to all young people from the Nazareth area, preparing them for a life of service and care for others.
St John's has been involved with the Nazareth Hospital for several years, helping to raise money on Biblical Bike Rides, and in 2003 our then minister, Mike Frew, spent some study leave there. (Read about his experiences here.) Mike is a member of the Board of the Nazareth Trust.

The Fairtrade Foundation licenses the FAIRTRADE Mark, to products which meet internationally recognised standards. They work to raise awareness of the FAIRTRADE Mark, to deepen understanding of the Mark and to increase sales of Fairtrade certified products. Fairtrade Fortnight is organised each March, when local groups across the country link up with supermarkets, wholefood shops, churches and schools to promote Fairtrade.
