  1943 - 1993: Centenary to the 150th Anniversary

1943 - St John's celebrates 100 years of existence.

1948 - A Dramatic Club is formed.

1949 - The organ console is moved to allow greater space in the choir box.

1956 - A Christmas Eve Watchnight Service is started.

1957 - A branch of the Young Worshippers' League is started in November.

1960 - Kirk Session adopts the practice of Bible Study before Session meetings.

A Session Retreat is held at Crieff in November.

1963 - Dry rot and woodworm are discovered.

A stencil duplicator is acquired, which greatly facilitates the production of a monthly Newsletter.

1964 - Extensive and costly repairs and treatment are carried out. The congregation is 'decanted' a mere nine months before the centenary of the church building.

A Service of Rededication is held on 29 November.

1965 - The Centenary of the church building is marked by a year of celebration.

A Men's Club is formed.

1966 - The Congregational Board is formed to replace the Deacons' Court.

The time of the morning service is changed from 11.30am to 11.00am

1967 - St John's embarks on a Parish Development Programme.

1970 - The Session House is converted into a kitchen.

1971 - The communion roll exceeds 1000 for the first time.

1975 - A pulpit microphone and loudspeakers are installed.

A Junior Boys Brigade section is started up.

1976 - Lady elders are appointed for the first time. Miss Frances Cadzow and Miss Sandra Peat are ordained in November.

1979 - The Organ is refurbished and resited in the North transept at a cost of slightly over £5000. A service of rededication is held in September.

1980 - A Time for Fellowship is instituted after the morning service.

1981 - Work starts on the rebuilding and extension of the church halls. Various fund raising activities are inititated, including a Saturday morning coffee morning, which remained until 1999 as the Urn's On!

1982 - A short Thursday morning service is instituted. It continues to attract folk from all over Carluke to this day.

1983 - A Company Section of the BB is formed. It has its inaugural service in October.

1984 - A Friday evening Youth Club is formed, to attract young people who have no other church links.

1985 - A Service of Dedication of the new suite of halls is held in April.

1987 - A system of Kirk Session committees is formed, which allocates specific areas of responsibility to small groups of elders.

1988 - The Banner Group is formed.

1989 - St John's embarks on the Let's Share campaign to regenerate the membership. An almost record number attends the June communion (beaten only once before in the 1967 PDP campaign).

Colin Dempster, BD, is appointed as assistant minister, during his probationary year.

1990 - A new manse is occupied in October. The old manse having been the subject of a Presbytery architectural survey, would have required much expense to bring it up to standards.

A Summer mission to children is started, and continues to this day.

1992 - A short Communion at the Thursday morning service is instituted, to follow the normal Communion Sundays.

A new copyprinter replaces the old stencil duplicator. Its main use continues to be the production of the Newsletter, but now includes the printing of a weekly order of service, which also contains the announcements and diary information for the following week.

1993 - A major redecoration of the sanctuary takes place and the lighting is replaced with modern sodium lighting. Concerts and events are held throughout the year; Former ministers are invited back as guest preachers, including The Rev Dr W Storrar (minister of St John's from 1985-1991) on 16 May (nearest Sunday to the actual anniversary) and the Very Rev Dr Andrew Doig at the 'official' anniversary communion service in August.

CHOICES community shop is opened, and the ruling bodies of 5 congregations in the town jointly agree to embark on a Youth Project, which will be known as Street Level.
