Other Church Activities
Church Flowers
Flowers are used to decorate the sanctuary and enhance worship. Special arrangements are created for Harvest, Christmas and Easter. At other times, members of the congregation contribute by providing the flowers for a particular Sunday.
Those wishing to contribute in this way can indicate their intention on the Flower Calendar in the vestibule.
Library
Our small library has a range of up-to-date Christian books, most of which were donated by members of the congregation. Topics are wide ranging and include: biography/autobiography, prayer and devotion, Bible study, discipleship, family life. There are also children's books, novels and magazines with Christian or spiritual themes.
A recent addition is a set of videos and audio tapes.
Any member of the congregation may borrow items from the library by entering details in the notebook provided.
Housegroups
Various groups meet on different occasions in members' homes. The aim is to provide opportunities to explore God's Word in Fellowship with others. Topics for study may be one-off evenings, or a more extended series of fuller explorations, often based on DVD.
Details of current housegroup meetings are given in Sunday Bulletins and in the weekly diary
Trekkers
Trekkers provide an opportunity to enjoy our beautiful countryside with the friendliest of people. Its outings include Munroes for the fitter members and more gentle rambles for the not so ambitious. Although this group now includes many members from other churches (or none), outings are still organised by St John's
